About Dr. Gerdes

Dr. Gerdes has an interdisciplinary background which includes undergraduate degrees in government and psychology from Liberty University, a Masters of Business Administration (MBA), a Master of Arts in Public Policy (MA), and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University.

His professional background is varied, but focused on leadership. Dr. Gerdes has taught leadership and related courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He developed the Leadership Track for the MBA program at Liberty University before coming to CSU as the MBA Director.

In practice, Dr. Gerdes is strongly biased toward leadership education. Before teaching at Liberty University, he spent 6 years teaching at Stonebridge School, a classical Christian school in Chesapeake, VA. He holds lifetime ACSI (Association of Christian Schools International) teaching certification. He also served for three years as a member of his local public school board.

He is a member of the Christian Business Faculty Association (CBFA) and the Academy of Management (AOM). He has taught at a half dozen colleges and universities, and has given lectures internationally in four Eastern European countries. Dr. Gerdes is a member of Psi Chi (ΨΧ), the National Honor Society for Psychology and Sigma Beta Delta (ΣΒΔ), the International Honor Society for Business. He lives in North Charleston, SC with his wife and 5 children.
